A Modern Baby Shower Tin-vitation

Sometime ago I rec'd a call from a sweetvoice, Yasmine. Yasmine was surfing the net and came upon my website http://www.exquisiteinvitation.com/ and loved the tin-vitation's. According to Yasmine, this was definately something she wanted for her baby boy shower with it's uniqueness!

We worked on a design together, something with modern flair incorporating her color choice of tangerine and teal. The tins included dotted circles with all her shower information shown in its individual circle. I also included matching automobiles of rockets, trucks and cars and for fun colored confetti and irredescent flakes...so cute! The outside of the tin were dressed up in tangerine ribbons and more circles: her name tags with dangling "its a boy" charms. All of this cuteness were delivered to her guest in kraft boxes and matching wrap around labels. I definately had fun making these for her and she loved them too!

A day so sweet! My brother in law is now married and of course, ExQuisite InVitation had part in the event. The theme was close to my heart "BUTTERFLIES"! The mood- Enchantment....I wish them both the best.

The invitation was placed into a jet pouchette. The color palette was black, white and sangria. The invitation wording was on white stock with ornate corners and a double butterfly motif was placed on the invitation with five smaller flutterbugs to represent their children. And I just can't forget the rhinestones.

The outer was tied with sheer/satin ribbon with a tag printed with the guest name...a complete present.
Yes, she wanted the LOVE favor magnets too! This has got to be my most popular item this year so far. 1,100 and still counting.
All of the tables were named in relations to enchanting fairytales places or stories such as: neverland and fantasia... all set in black frames.

Pleated Ribbon Placecards

A client by the name of Misty reached me through my Etsy shop for a custom placecard inspired by this ring pillow.

She mentioned, "I wanted someone who works well with ribbon". I guess she didn't know who she was missing with. With a mom and grandmother whom are both seamtresses, fabric has been apart of my whole life.

Misty wanted her placecards to be used for the honorees involved in her wedding...how lucky are they? Misty's placecards will be displayed at her wedding standing up in placecard holders.

When I saw these cool lighted umbrella's I said, "OK!" now there could be something here. Who has ever walked in the rain at night? I know I have, it could be leaving work or going out to eat at night and it just happens to rain.

We'll how about taking some very romantic wedding photo's at night...maybe sneak out while everyone else is eating dinner! These illuminated beauties would make some great wedding props and you could be helping out your photographer also with that extra light.

Tangerine Fields

I've been wanting to post about this wonderful invitation that has been in the shop for about a month now...So here it is!

Tangerine Fields:

Lying with both eyes closed in canary grass, the wind is mild and the sun makes beads of sweat on my brow. A fragrance so sweet entices my senses and with one open eye I see it clear as day, a tangerine bloom all alone. I smile, lie back down and look to the sky and say, "I think I'll call this tangerine field".

This tin invitation is delivered to your guests with their name printed on a belly wrap in vellum.

And nicely tucked into a custom kraft package to be mailed...such an eco feel!

I had fun designing this unique invitation and collaborating with a great designer, Milkysupplies who creates beautiful handmade organza/chiffon blooms in various colors. The designer is all the way from Turkey and it was such a pleasure working with her.

Lauren got in touch with me because as she put it, "Is so in LOVE" with my flowergirl tin invitations. In love so much she wanted one for her flowergirl and a special one also made for her ringbearer... why not? the little tots needed to be appreciated too, right!

In addition to having the little ones participate in such an event, Lauren also needed a way to ask a cousin who plays the violin to also be apart of her wedding day. Lauren was very open to any design.

Sarah is a 19 year old, artsy kind of gal so in an elegant way using chocolate, cream and pink... This was my vision.

Mount Dora Arts & Craft Fair

I had the opportunity of attending the Mount Dora Arts & Craft Fair about 2 weeks ago and needed to post this on my blog because I was so excited to be there. I first heard about this fair 2 years ago when a moved to Florida. It's been said, "It's the largest in the state"...with way over 100 vendors and more than 300,000 in attendance ...with showing dates on both Saturday and Sunday. Upon arrival the town had specialized parking that enabled guests to take a bus to the events, which I thought was way cool and quaint! I walked with my daughter as we seen a blissful of handmade goodies such as hair bows, leather bound books, potpourri, soy candles, home decor, key chains ...and so much more. I enjoyed myself and can't wait to attend again next year, maybe I'll vend because there were hardly any paper goods ;).

Yes, Mexico+Baby Shower=?...A friend of mine's wife recently got in touch with me in order to design some baby shower invitations for her sister in-law. The sister in-law was married in Mexico, was having the baby shower (she's having a girl) at a Mexican Restaurant, and again wanted to tie all this Mexican talk into a baby shower for a girl. Now when I think of baby girls, I think of pinks, plums even yellow. On the other hand, Mexico is more primary-red, green, blue....etc. So how do you mix the two....see the outcome!

Seen anything so magical? This past weekend as I was driving into my garage a glimpse of color distracted me and to my surprise...A RAINBOW!!! and it was a full one, from one end to the next. I was so excited to see this (I'm originally from NJ, where the pollution is soooo heavy) but in Florida- it's nothing but open fields.

This is a post "over due"...I know!

Jennefer contacted me through my Esty shop because she was having a butterfly theme wedding and in her words, "kept coming back to the shop because she loved this butterfly designed invitation". Such a pleasure to work with, Jenn and I could stay on the phone for 1-3 hrs. talking it up.

Her colors included plume, which is a HOT 2009 wedding color. Jennefer's cake was also decorated with shades of purple butterflies.

To bring texture to the invitation it was fully wrapped with a screen printed paper full of plume butterflys and tied together with a lavender satin ribbon.

The butterfly motif was also placed on her placecards and the screen printed paper was also used for them and the table markers.

Congratulations Jennefer & James, already into 1 month of married....

Chiyogami is a type of Japanese paper decorated with brightly colored, woodblock-printed patterns. With this said, I designed a chiyogami beauty with red cherry blossoms.

Shelana via Etsy had gotten in touch with me because she was interested in my "BEE InVitation". Well, on Etsy this InVitation looks totally different then what's below because its shown as a wedding invitation, but Shelana needed it for a baby shower...and the transformation begins!

I was contacted by Beatriz through my Etsy shop. Beatriz was so excited about my flowergirl tin invitation so much for her flowergirl she just had to have it for her...but here's the kicker! The baby isn't here yet! That's right.

Babygirl Levis' is not due for 1 1/2 more months, so to make the invite even more special Beatriz will be presenting this cute invitation to her good friend at the baby shower! How sweet is that? Beatriz plans to marry in 2011 so the baby will be old enough then.

Debra's Personalized M&M Favors

A dear friend of mine Debra, recently got married (late blog post) and asked me to do her favors. A while ago I blogged about M&M's that can now incorporate photo's on their bite sized candies.

Debra's colors were purple, silver and white. I purchased some clear boxes, white shredded paper and 2 teaspoons of M&M's were placed in each! Added a silver metallic bow and a monogrammed tag, from sticker paper! They were sweet!

About 2mos. ago Lynn Cardwell was the Featured Seller on Etsy and I was fully pulled in by her craft of pottery so much that I just had to have a personalized bowl done for my daughter, Journey. Fortunately, I had a destination wedding so I didn't have high heels or pumps but I have been in weddings where pictures were taken at parks and it is a drag just knowing that your heels are sinking and getting dirty. Ok, so one day a friend of mine asked me was there any formal way to invite your bridesmaid, matron of honor, or maid of honor to stand by her side on her wedding day? I replied, "You know I'll find a way!" Instead of the ordinary cookie cutter card that ask, "Will you be my bridesmaid", I designed a flat card which would hold the initial or the whole name of the recipient as well as a short poem as the formal invite.

With only 1 week until the date of mailing them out (the shower is in August)...I came up with something sweet and darling. She'll like them, I know she will. The baby shower is taking place at a Country Club (Ex-cussa me!) and as far as I know will be a 100 guest turn out. Wowsah!!! This is the 1st grand, daughter that is.

A touching story....

I get tons of wedding email everyday, but when a cousin of mine sent me the following email called, "THE WEDDING"...my heart stopped. This is truly amazing and I hope this story touches someone as it has me because life is too short and time waits for no one. LOVE is truly bliss!

Her name is Katie Kirkpatrick, 21 yrs old. Next to her is her fiancée, Nick, 23. This picture was taken prior to their wedding January 11th, 2005 . Katie has terminal cancer and spends hours in chemotherapy.Here Nick awaits while she finishes one of the sessions..

Even in pain and dealing with her organs shutting down, with the help of morphine, Katie took care of every single wedding planning. Her dress had to be adjusted several times due to Katie's constant weight loss.

An expected guest was her oxygen tank. Katie had to use it during the ceremony and reception. The other couple in this picture are Nick's parents, very emotional with the wedding and of course to see their son marrying the girl he fell in love when he was an adolescent.

In the middle of the party Katie had to rest for a bit and catch her breath. The pain doesn't allow her to stand for long period of time.

Katie died 5 days after her wedding. To see a fragile woman dress as bride with a beautiful smile makes you think... happiness is always there within reach, no matter how long it lasts.....lets enjoy life and don't live a complicated life. Life is too short.

Happy Father's Day to all the Father's in my family and to my reader's families. My hubby received his fathers gift from me and on Memorial Day because we had family over and he always wanted a grill, so that's what he got!

In addition, Journey got her father this really nice key fog from etsy seller Leathermadenice its so sweet and I know it will melt his heart. The reverse side says, 'The first man I ever loved'.

Ok, so if there's one thing I really need to get the hang of is this blogging. It just seems to happen for me once I get dinner finished, laundry done, caught up with friends and family and most importantly spending time with my loved ones...I have to get better!

I am so anxious for my website to become live, right now I feature all of my designs on Etsy and believe me...it has been quite an adventure- i love it.

Okay, since June is the month of Weddings...I decided to dedicate this month's postings to all things that are Vintage that would be lovely to incorporate in your special day. First stop....Vintage inspired wedding rings and bands. I am a real fan of vintage wedding ring sets, as for myself own one in white and rose gold.

So here are the last of some professional pics of ExQuisiteInVitation's creations from the wedding of Tiffany & Nicholas.

The inVitation was a classic black and white two layer with damask backing and a white linen cardstock snuggled into a black pouchette. The inVitation was embellished with a swavorski crystal.

Since Tiffany and Nick was honeymooning in Paris the idea for the escort cards were to make them resemble postcards from Paris. On one side was the eiffel tower on the reverse was a section for guests to leave wishes for the Mr. & Mrs. and also their name and table number assignment. The postcards were wrapped with a hemp cord postal style and white pencils were attached with Tiffany and Nicks name and wedding date for the guests to have as apart of their favors. During the reception I collected all the postcards from the guests, wrapped them up and gave them to Tiffany so that she and Nick can take them with them to Paris and read....so special.

Tiffany wanted all white roses for her and her bridesmaid bo-k's, here I clustered 10 white roses for each bo-k and wrapped the stems with damask ribbon. Each bo-k was then placed into a bulb vase with little water for protection. At the reception the bo-k's were apart of the sweetheart table.

The toasting flutes came out sooooo great. I asked Tiffany if she already owned a nice pair of glasses in order to save money. She gave me a pair of simple flutes and I found some damask motif rub on's in clear so you would actually think that were made that way. The result, SIMPLE and FAB!

Again, to obtain the pure and look of simplicity the table centerpieces were low styled. All of the tables were decorated with different vases to each with white roses. The vases were placed on a circular mirrored glass and surrounded by votives.

Tiffany & Nicholas....Are Married!

Yesterday was one of the greatest days EVER!!! Next to my wedding day, Tiffany & Nicholas celebrated their own day and ExQuisite InVitation was front and center. As any wedding planner knows, planning the perfect wedding take patience, organization and most important ENDURANCE!!!! (Today my legs are killing me, but it was all worth it) I had so much fun helping these two wonderful people plan their nuptials. Tiffany and Nick were married at Casa Feliz Historic Museum in Winter Park, FL. a characteristic location filled with lush greenery and beautiful archways. Their ceremony took place in the courtyard and the reception took place at the locations open bricked terrace. The night was beautiful and trails were lighted with luminaries. I wish them both a marriage filled with love, respect, and of coarse lots of babies.

Ok, so when I was planning my wedding the one thing which you would probably think is important wasn't quite so to me. The wedding toasting flutes!!!!! I remember going into Macy's and falling in love with these wine glasses that have swavorski crystal stems and were priced way over $100...Yikes right? We'll I didn't get them and just comprimised on making my own wine glasses with a similar taste. I ordered a pair of toasting flutes from http://orientaltrading.com/ which came with our names and wedding date etched on them for around $9.99 and glued swavorski stones all over for the glasses which I thought looked great and was wayyyyyy less then those Macy flutes.

I just experimented again on another bride's toasting flutes whom didn't want to spend anything on them and came up with this great idea....RUB ON'S!!!!! Yes, she is a damask bride and I found some damask rub on's. She is using a pair of her own flutes and the rub on's just cost $1.99! Check em' out. (You can find rub on's at at Walmart, Target and all craft stores).

it was beautiful. How rustic and charming is this escort card table centerpiece. Metal planters stacked on top of each other largest to smallest gives each level room to add flowers, vegetables, and candles. The shape of the planter also gives a visual eye to the placement of the escort cards in a circular pattern around the planter. Hmmm, I wonder how gorgeous this would look with square planters?

Ok ok ok, your not the flower type...That's fine, there are thousands of ways to get the tablescape you want for your event with out the use of flowers. Candles, lanterns, led lighting, branches, wheatgrass, and my most favorite element to any tablescape is the use of water be it plain or added food coloring the foundation offers endless possiblities. Like myself at my own destination wedding, I to did not use flowers for my tablescape...just conch shells, votives and photo of my daughter representing the table #'s for my guests.

So Tiffany and Nicholas wedding is fast approaching, exactly 29 days away as I write this! In a short time of 6mos. YIKES!!! I have helped sweet Tiff* plan the most important day of her life. From the invites, escort cards, centerpieces, coordinating....everything, you name it - I have been apart of.

All of the flowers used are going to be real cream roses...400 of them, YIKES again!!! that I will de-leaf and de-thorn in order to make all bouquets, cp's, and bouts. As a trail run for the bridesmaids bouquets I used the original damask ribbon that will be incorporated for this event. I had on deck red real roses, but then again cream roses will be used. The mock came out smoking!!!!

Wedding Gowns and Accessories
Vintage is in. Whether you wear your grandmother or mother's dress, or pick something up at a vintage clothing shop, you'll be in style. Much like the glamour days in Hollywood's golden years, vintage is evidenced in halter necklines, cap sleeves, light draping, strapless gowns, plunging necklines, antique lace, satin ribbons for straps, ruffles, tea-length dresses. For the Spring and Summer, the vintage look gets its bling from diamond or rhinestone accessories, and open-toed stilettos, and dangling earrings.

Brocade and beads take center stage along with floral appliqués, brocade accents and shimmering beads. Silver or gold trimmings done in good taste and with restraint along with fabric choices such as silk, satin and charmeuse, fit well with the glitzy look. Off-white, pearl and iridescent silver complete the look that era. Trimmings such as bows do much to add a feminine touch to an otherwise "masculine" styled dress. The bows can be found at the shoulder, or on the small of the back. Fashion experts say to skip ruffles and lace accents and rather to punch it up to a more romantic look.

A mix of classic styles and modern designs is always popular, so gowns are showing up on the runway with multilayered fabric. Tinted voile and chiffon can be seen layered over a simple white dress, resulting in an entirely different silhouette.

As to the styles of 2009 wedding gowns, there are several things on the horizon. Slimmed down gowns yield a soft silhouette. Flowing layers, lace, and detail replace formerly larger gowns. Hats and fascinators (a light scarf, usually knitted or crocheted, worn around the head or neck)are coming back. They will add a touch of sophistication.

Warmer weather will usher in really short wedding dresses, which can be paired with ankle-tied sandals. These short gowns will replace corset style, with straps and sleeves. To add color to their otherwise white gowns, brides will wear colored crinoline underskirts. Some brides will color the soles of their shoes to achieve the extra pick-me-up of color.

Color Pallette
The key phrase is lots and lots of color. Don't get confused. Just pick the colors that fit with your personality and taste and that "speak" to you.

The most popular color for next season is purple, from pale lavender to deep purples and every shade in between. For winter, black, plum and navy will take center stage. For Spring it will be latte, coral and lavender. For Summer, mauve, sage and turquoise will dominate and for Fall, the top hits for colors will be emerald, burgundy and chocolate. Shiny metallics will be what couples who want added glitz will choose.

And, of course, there are those who predict that black will reign supreme in everything from gowns to decor and accessories and gray and white will always be "in" colors.

Jewelry
Look for lots and lots of color starting with engagement rings. Brides are hinting and grooms are buying emerald, topaz, gannet, and other precious stones as the center, or complimentary stone for engagement rings.

Attendants
Traditional pastels and classic white will still be available, but also are being kicked up to red which makes a bold and vibrant statement for Spring weddings. The red highlights will be seen as trimmings on wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses. The combination of white and red is in tune with the trend to more romantic weddings, while touches of shocking pink will be really eye-catchers. And don't be surprised to see flapper-inspired dresses in fitted, mid-calf length.

Flowers and Decor
Color will play a big part. Stunning reception decor will move away from white and ivory and will be much bolder in colors for accents, linens, and designs. Exotic flowers are more popular than ever. The cascade-style bouquet is experiencing a resurgence.

Bolder colors will be carried through from invitations to linens, wedding stationery and wedding cakes. Red will be everywhere . . . In tents, tablecloths, flowers, and trimmings. Yellows, oranges and pinks will also be "in." All shades of purple will be very popular and carried over into decor. Blues combined with gold, silver, gray and platinum metallics will be very popular for the 2008 season. It's all about breaking up the white décor and wedding gown with hot flashes of color.

And there will still be those who opt for black . . . roses or rosettes, black table linens and black and white color combinations make a really sophisticated statement. Black orchids, albeit both rare and expensive, will make a fashionable statement floating on a pond, or in a fountain.

Other Trends
It's all about comfort and making an impression, so more brides will be changing out of their wedding gowns and changing their hairstyles for the reception. .
Bridal couples are moving away from all-inclusive resort vacations in one honeymoon location and, instead opting for honeymoon-hopping to three or more locations.
Monogramming, once very popular is coming back into invitations, wallpaper and dinner plates. The look works well in complimenting a vintage-style wedding.
And no surprise, Destination Weddings continue in popularity.

Cakes
"Couture" wedding cakes are in remaining in vogue. You'll see black-and-white icing, gilded patterns, sequins, pearls and frills, polka dots and everything in between. Brides are looking to bakers for unusual taste combinations and loving the multi tiered display with cupcakes.

Dinner
Sit-down dinners will not be as popular as they have been in the past, instead the trend is toward having several food stations with a variety of foods, everything from appetizer selections to dessert choices.

Caterers will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills with what's being called a "progressive wedding." The idea is to have every course with a different country's cuisine for each part of the dinner. In that way guests can sample foods from all over the world and are sure to find something on the menu that suits their taste.

Signature drinks and family recipes are extremely popular. Color will be key in food presentation, with caterers making an attempt to make food even more pleasing to the eye. Ethnic theme dishes such as Middle Eastern, Latin and Mediterranean themes are the newest trends.

Theme Weddings
In keeping with the concept of a "progressive wedding," the type of music being played and the entertainment can be switched in keeping with the food changes.

Brides are coming up with more and more creative ways to make their theme weddings stand out from the rest. To carry through a Harry Potter theme, in Britain brides are turning their wedding receptions into woodland fantasies, spraying trees purple and creating centerpieces that have an enchanted forest appearance.

Party Favors
Instead of traditional Jordan almonds, couples will go upscale by giving each guest an iPod Nano pre-loaded with the couple's favorite songs.

Unusual Honeymoons
Wild honeymoons like an Ice Hotel in the Arctic, backpacking in the rain forest, or honeymooning in a hut along the Amazon are definitely in.

Going Green
Couples are choosing to go green as a reflection of their commitment to being their eco-conscious. Brides will demonstrate their affirmation of this trend in everything from getting to the church and reception in a rickshaw to growing their own centerpieces and bouquets, to wearing recycled gowns. This is a trend that will expand in the numbers of brides coming on board and in the ways in which wedding-related professionals will offer green options to their brides.

Photography
Formal and posed shots will always be popular, but more and more couples are choosing to switch to, or add candid, photojournalistic photography. Black and white photos continue to be popular, as an addition to shots in color.

Timing
Because, in part, of the down turn economy, 16% of couples are delaying their wedding date by an average 10 months.

Budget
Results from recent surveys by The Wedding Report show that 62% of couples are cutting their wedding budgets by an average 32%.This is reflected in choices that bridal couples are making, such as the following:
*Smaller weddings with fewer guests
*Destination weddings or destination type weddings closer to home
*Increased reliance on family and friends to help plan, pay, and provide some of the services
*Simplified decorations, centerpieces and wedding invitations
*Increased use of online RSVP's vs. traditional mail-in RSVPs
*Off-peak weddings; Mornings, Afternoons, Fridays, Sundays
*Buffet meals, Hors d'oeuvre, and cocktail receptions

Newlywed

So I'm a newly wed! I had gotten married this past April, April 26, 2008 to be exact and had a marvelous "Destination Wedding" on the island of Grand Bahama at an Exclusive resort named "Old Bahama Bay"! Even though I had a wedding planner who assisted me, I was actually my own wedding planner, she just sat back and watched the show!!! But no really...According to her, she never seen a bride as relaxed as I were. I dotted my (i's) and crossed all my (t's) because this special event was expected to do nothing but run smoothly and that's exactly what it did.

The whole vision was mine, but why NOT! That's what I do. Above are just three of my favorite out of hundreds of wedding yum! I hope everyone had a great Christmas!!! I love this time of year, it enables me to make and give out home made gifts and ohhh the abundance of pictures!!! All January and February I will be engulfed in scrapbooking!

So when did this whole planning of events aspire? We'll the year was 1987 and my mom was planning for her big day and she did so within a year. I can remember the reception hall, her colors were pale yellow and heather gray and her theme were doves ....WOW! She ran all over town, kept in touch with all her vendors she even made her gown, head piece, the flower girl dress, and my dress and OH YES.....all the flower arrangements and bouquets too!!! The woman was such a detailed and organized person, making it all look like fun and very stressful at the same time, she enjoyed the planning process and dragged me along with her every step of the way. Thanks mom!!!! Look what you've made me into today URRRRR "YOU"!
